As of Feb 2022 it will be Law in Scotland for all houses in Scotland to be protected by smoke alarms .
The standard is as follows
* one smoke alarm installed in the room most frequently used for general daytime living purposes ie living room
* one smoke alarm installed in every circulation space on each storey ie Hallways
* one heat alarm installed in every kitchen
All alarms should be ceiling mounted and interlinked , either mains or ten year sealed batteries
In addition, where there is a carbon-fuelled appliance such as a boiler , gas hob or fire (including open fires) a carbon monoxide detector will be required . This does not need be interlinked with alarms .
